Board Certified Acupuncturists & Herbalists

We set individualized treatment plans for all of our patients, working with them to obtain the best possible results. The treatment plans can be thought of in four different categories acute, chronic, fertility and pediatric.

Acute treatment

Examples of acute problems include almost anything that has started in the past few weeks such as back, shoulder, neck or other musculoskeletal pain, anxiety, unexplained rashes, frequent headaches, stomach pain, and much more.

In general acute problems take between three and eight treatments to resolve. Typically, patients come twice a week for one to two weeks, and then once a week for another two or three weeks, until their symptoms have completely resolved.

Chronic treatment

Patients who present with chronic problems have been experiencing them from several months to several years. Examples of chronic problems include, low back pain, frequent migraines, digestive issues such as irritable bowel disorder, auto-immune disease like Crohn's, Hashimoto’s, or seasonal, allergies, and women's health issues including menstrual disorders and menopause symptoms.

Again, for these patients, the treatment plan will begin with two weekly treatments, and move to weekly then bi-weekly treatments as the symptoms go away. The length of time a patient has had a problem can be a good indicator of how long he or she will need treatments -- the more recent a problem has occurred, the sooner it should resolve. The treatment plan for chronic problems usually includes dietary and lifestyle changes as well as herbal formulas. The better patients are able to incorporate changes into their lives, the faster they will see results.

Fertility treatment

With female infertility, including inability to conceive, frequent miscarriage, amenorrhea, and PCOS, women have the best results with two weekly treatments for three to six months and then one weekly session through conception and the first trimester. A woman's body choose one egg three months before ovulation, which is why we expect a minimum of three months to see the changes a women will need to have before becoming pregnant.

We also work with men to increase sperm count and improve morphology. We typically see patients once a week for three months and then bi-weekly through conception and the first trimester. Sperm also take three months to develop. Therefore, three months are necessary to see dramatic improvements.

As with chronic treatments, fertility treatment plans usually includes dietary and lifestyle changes as well as herbal formulas.

Pediatric treatment

As with adults, children come in with a wide variety of ailments. Depending on the problem and age of the child, we will use massage, magnets, needles, herbs or a combination of those modalities. We work with both the parents and the children to assure that everyone is comfortable with the treatment.

For younger children it is important to prepare them for what will happen in the office -- primarily that we will be taking their pulse and looking at their tongue. Playing acupuncturist before coming in for a treatment will help them feel more at ease. To do this just ask your child if you can take his or her pulse and then gently touch their wrist for ten seconds. Then ask them to stick out their tongue at you. Let them know that the acupuncturist will be doing the same at their treatment.
